Five people - Two wheels - One horse! That's the experience I've been waiting to tell you about!

Indonesian island Gili Trawangar known as Gili T among the tourist as it is much-easier-to-pronounce. This island is a heaven of South East Asia. People drive horses and bikes to work, sail all day and dance all night. Gili T is the largest of the three Gili Islands, with a population of around 800 people.

After taking the ferry from Padangbai (the main port in Bali) I arrived at Gili around 10 o'clock in the morning. The sun was shining bright and I've never seen the water so blue as it was that morning! It seemed like it was part of the postcard I send to m granny for Christmas! As soon as I collected my luggage, very friendly local guy offered me to jump in his carriage, as he wanted to show me the way. Of course, I never thought I will end up on a ''so called carriage'' with other four people going down narrowest roads to my accommodation.

Gili T island allows you to escape from the rest of the world! I have spend two weeks reading books, snorkelling and diving with the locals, eating nice food and enjoying the sun. It may seem boring, but every single day brought something unusual and unexpected that made my trip extraordinary.

What to expect from Gili T?

To my surprise, all the local people speak and understand English, however you can hear them speaking their native Indonesian language that has a different sound to it due to the unique dialect.

Do not be afraid of those cultural differences. People in Gili T are genuinely one the friendliest people I have ever met. They talk and treat you as a friend, show you around and are excited to tell you their story. If you are lucky, you will make life-long friends and experience a different Gili T life while going fishing and snorkelling with the locals.

Weather

During those two weeks I spent on Gili T in August, the weather was simply perfect! Breezy evenings while eating dinner at the shore and super hot days - perfect for snorkelling and sunbathing! The average day temperature ranged from 28 to 35 degrees. However, it is necessary to check the times to go to Bali/Gili T due to the rainy season which starts running from November to April, therefore I would recommend to book your trips before or after those months to prevent any inconveniences.

Book it now! Peak season in Bali start from July to August and then December to January. These two seasons are the best times to get the real experience of tropical island!

Also, If you are someone who get's confused by using different currencies, I would highly recommend you to download the called ''Currency''. It is super easy to use and avoid many misunderstandings abroad. It help me out numerous times!

Love, S.
